Hound Dog's Pizza

Location:  2657 N. High Street
                   Columbus, OH 43201

The police stepped out to arrest this pie at the request of a blog fan.  Of course we'd heard of Hound Dogs and the "3-Degree Pie" before but had never gotten a piece of it.  This is a preliminary rating though, because we had to settle for delivery and we didn't even experiment with the different degrees of sauces!!!

Service:  The telephone was promptly answered and our pies were delivered in a very timely manner.

Environment:  More to come at a later date, including pictures!

Crust:  Not thrilled.  Parts of the crust seemed a bit spongy.  It should be considered as an in between crust...it wasn't thin crust pie but it certainly wasn't thick.  Pretty good flavor though, with a little added salt.

Sauce:  Not enough of it!  The sauce we did find though was kind of chunky and filled with oregano, so it tasted pretty good!  One of the police compared it to a spaghetti-ish sauce.  We look forward to trying more of the sauces offered though soon.

Cheese:  A little overbrowned on the outside of the crust, but not in a terrible way.  It was good when the pie first got to us and was piping hot, but once it cooled down the cheese started to get... questionable.  It certainly satisfied, but wasn't anything special.

Peps:  Very nicely cupped!  Great flavor, filled with the traditional flavor one hopes to find in a well done pepperoni.  I'd also just like to mention here that these guys have a ton of other toppings too, all at quite a reasonable price.  Nice!

Value:  A 16" pie is very reasonably priced at around $14 per pie (assuming a few toppings).  We ordered two of these pies.  Much to our surprise though, our entire order was only $18!!!!  We're not sure what happened but we got one heck of a steal from these guys.  Great value!

Overall:  The police received a large pie that satisfied.  It was cheap, it was tasty, and it was peetz.  Hound Dog's offers more than just peetz too, so those options can definitely be explored!  The three degree of sauces sure does make the establishment interesting, and the wide variety of toppings makes us hungry for more.  Until we can further investigate, Hound Dog's receives a bronze badge.  Check back in a week or two for our revised review!

I've heard that Hound Dog's pretty much makes dog food...so I guess I'm a little disappointed that you guys didn't run into a pizza crime scene, but I'll stay tuned.
